'If Fandoms Were Men' Meme

Izzy

Snagged from twilight2000  :-)

The one who seduced you and screwed you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it.
Heroes.  The first season and a half was great (twisty, turny, bad, but in a good way) then it started to suck.  *sigh*

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets.
Forever Knight. It was my first fandom and I was ridiculously active. In the end, I liked the fandom better than the show ;-)

The mysterious dark, gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy (but you still love).
Anita Blake. The books are terribly written (bad characterization, arc, pacing, etc) The fic, however, is some of my favorite. Awesome world building.

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to get with again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town.
Watchmen.  I love the writers in this fandom, there's some amazing fic. I toy with the idea of joining in, however the meta aspects are just too intimidating.

The steady.
Buffy Xovers. Twisting the Hellmouth is my home.

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with.
Firefly. I like the show, even like the fic; I've just never felt any compulsion to write any. *shrug*

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't.
Sherlock Holmes. I'm a big fan of the books and the Jeremy Brett TV series, but somehow I've never connected with the fic.

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except you've already got a steady.
Stargate. Nothing against the show (and some of the fic look amazing) I'm just not particularly drawn to it.

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? how the hell did he land all these cool gals?"
Dr. Who – or as I call it “Dr. Who Cares?” The shows just bad.  I don't understand the appeal at all.

The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and who you measure all other potential partners against.
Constantine. This fandom has some of the hottest love/hate slash out there. John/Balthazar for the win!

The Summer Fling. Every summer.
Smallville – but only the Chloe/Lex pairing. Every few months or so I check out the new fics.

The one you recently met at a party and would like to get to know better and who you think you might have a crush on.
Supernatural AUs. Usually I steer clear of AUs (many are just original fics with familiar casting) but SPN seems to be the exception for me.

The old flame that you wouldn't totally object to hooking up with again for a one night romp if only he cleaned himself up a bit.
Batman. I love the Nolan-'verse based fics, however, the comics (especially the Bat-”family”) leave me cold.

Your hot new flame.
Supernatural. I haven't written any fic yet, but it will happen.

The one who teases and pleases and shows up late, but who you'd wait for no matter how long it took to get there.
Deep Space 9's Bashir/Garak. Out of all the Star Trek fics and pairings out there, those two, have a special place in my heart.

The one who stole your boyfriend.
Criminal Minds – the hubby's favorite. He watches it while I read SPN fanfic on the laptop. I've caught enough though that I've recently started reading SPN/CM xovers...

oooh - you're SO right about Heroes!

and interesting twist to approach it from the fic end of things - didn't think of that :>

(and Dr. Who's not BAD - he's just DRAWN that way ;>)

Heroes hurt. It was so interesting early on and then... ugh.

You should go back into your post and add your reasons, I'd love to read them :)

hmm - gaming all day today, but that sounds like a good thing to do tomorrow :>.

Heroes - same damn thing they did to SeaQuest and War of the Worlds - both REALLY promising series in year 1 - then gone to shite with some damn random crap after that. Really irritating...

See now, I thought Heroes wasn't so bad at all—once you got past Season Two, which was goddawful.

Have to admit, I didn't make it past season 2. It was just -so- awful.

Also, I remember the site I was reading fic came under new management and made all sorts of restrictions (no dub-con for a show where mind-control is the norm) Maybe if the fic had held up I could have stuck with it, but alas...

Apparently I can't stick with a show/fandom that doesn't have good fanfiction ;-)
